I created this piece because I have always been inspired by Frida Kahlo's spirit, passion and determination. I came to relate to Frida more after I was in a car accident which brought me to art creation in place of some of the activities I had enjoyed prior. I included Frida's compassionate companion animal - the black panther - as I felt it was representative of her passionate and protective nature. I also included many of the plants that resonated with Frida such as the cacti, roses and marigolds as these held symbolic significance for her. Frida Kahlo has become a feminist icon and deservedly so.
All prints are printed on fine art paper with archival ink. I work with a local print studio to ensure the prints look as close as possible to the original works. This is done to ensure the best possible quality and longevity for the prints.
